Project Daedalus — Innovate. Engineer. Ascend.

Overview

Project Daedalus is the Arasmas Labs research and development space for experiments, prototypes, tools, and technical ideas that do not yet belong to a larger dedicated project. Daedalus is a place for exploration, innovation, and experimentation, where ideas can be tested, refined, and developed into working prototypes or practical tools. It serves as a testing ground for new concepts, technologies, and approaches, allowing the lab to push the boundaries of what is possible and explore new directions in research and development.

Daedalus is a sandbox and proving ground for new ideas and old ideas alike. Continuously, we ask the questions: "What can we build next?" and "How can we improve what we have already built?" The answers to these questions are what the lab seeks to explore.

Current Focus

Current work includes materials experiments, acoustic systems, environmental mapping, and other small-scale builds that may later develop into larger tools, products, or research directions.

We have drafted a list of over 80 potential experiments, prototypes, and tools that we would like to explore. The current focus is on a small subset of these tools and ideas that can be incorporated into the larger Nyx AI ecosystem, as well as other practical tools and systems that can better serve and support the lab as a whole.

Naming Convention

The name "Daedalus" is derived from the Greek myth of Daedalus, the legendary craftsman and inventor. This reflects the project's focus on innovation, engineering, and the creation of novel solutions.

Daedalus took to the skies with his son Icarus, using wings he crafted from feathers and wax. The name symbolizes the project's aspiration to explore new heights in technology and creativity, while also serving as a reminder of the importance of careful planning and execution in the pursuit of innovation.

Daedalus did more than just invent wings; he was a master of many crafts, including architecture, sculpture, and engineering. This multifaceted approach to problem-solving is mirrored in the project's diverse range of experiments and prototypes, which span multiple disciplines and technologies.
